Original winner Maureen Bruno-Roy has been declared ineligible for competing in a UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup race prior to the national championships. Runner-up Josie Jacques-Mayne has been recognized as the new national champion. Sally Annis is the new silver medalist and and Kristi Berg is the new bronze medalist.

Attention USA Cycling Mountain Bike Clubs and Race Promoters! USA Cycling and the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) have teamed up again this year to offer seven $500 USA Cycling/IMBA Trail Tune-Up Grants. These stipends are available to mountain bike groups seeking to jump-start various trail improvement projects. Projects that create or improve trails for mountain bike racing will receive the highest consideration, but funding can also be used to improve trails for training and recreational riding. All applicants MUST be a current IMBA member as well as a USA Cycling-sanctioned club or race promoter. All applications must be submitted by Sept. 1.

Another 11 national titles were decided on Thursday at the 2008 USA Cycling Masters Track National Championships in San Jose, Calif. as competitors competed in the head-to-head sprints and mass-start points races at the Hellyer Park Velodrome. Day two of the 2008 USA Cycling Masters Track National Championships crowned another 17 national champions as athletes contested the endurance-based time trials and a couple of points races. After capturing 500-meter time trial victories on Tuesday, some returned to the track on Wednesday to claim their second Stars-and-Stripes jerseys of the week, including Lawence Nolan, Victor Copeland, Jane Rinard and Bonnie Woodbury. The national championships continue on Thursday with 200-meter time trials, sprints and points race competitions.

The first 17 national titles were awarded on Tuesday as the 2008 USA Cycling Masters Track National Championships kicked off at the Hellyer Park Velodrome in San Jose. Awarded on opening day were Stars-and-Stripes jerseys in the time trial sprint events - the kilometer time trial and 500-meter time trial. Local athletes took home 13 of the first 17 championships awarded as amateur athletes age 30 and up will compete throughout the week for one of 164 national titles on the line.

The USA Cycling Junior Track National Championships came to a close today with five new national champions being crowned at the ADT Event Center Velodrome in Southern California. The final day started out with Eric Meier having a stellar ride in the men's 17-18 ten-kilometer scratch race. After a breakaway of three riders took control of the race in the final lap, Meier picked up his first stars-and-stripes jersey with a win over silver medalist Lanell Rockmore and bronze medalist Iggy Silva. Epes Harris and Dan Heeley rounded out the podium in fourth and fifth.

With no Americans competing in the lone medal event in track cycling on Saturday at the Olympic Games, all eyes were on Jennie Reed and Michael Blatchford as they contested the qualifying heats and preliminary rounds of the match sprint. At the end of the evening, Reed remained in contention for a medal, but Blatchford was eliminated, drawing a close to his Olympic experience. Reed will next square off against Lithuania's Simona Krupeckaite in Monday's quarterfinals. Also on Monday, Sarah Hammer will compete for a medal in the women's points race.

Eight more national titles were awarded on Saturday after an action-packed penultimate day at the USA Cycling Junior Track National Championships. After qualifying in first with a time of 11.432 over 200 meters, Lanell Rockmore breezed through his semi-final rounds and faced Epes Harris in the finals. Rockmore one the first two rounds to take the gold medal. In the race for bronze, Daniel Walker beat out Tynan Farley. Rounding out the podium in fifth was Trent Boyd.

National championship racing continued on Friday at the ADT Event Center Velodrome in suburban L.A. as stars-and-stripes jerseys were awarded for junior racing in five events. The first national title of the day was awarded to Lanell Rockmore who posted a time of 1:09.171 in the men's 17-18 1-kilometer time trial to claim the top step of the podium. Epes Harris completed the four laps in 1:09.512 to score the silver medal while Alan Ting finished in 1:09.675 for the bronze.Dan Heeley and Daniel Walker rounded out the podium in fourth and fifth.

The USA Cycling Junior Track National Championships kicked off on Thursday with four national championship titles awarded in men's and women's 17-18 events during the morning and evening sessions. Junior World Championships bronze medalist Colleen Hayduk scored two national titles on opening day - one in the women's 17-18 500-meter time trial and the other in the scratch race. In men's 17-18 competition, Kit Karzen saw a thrilling victory in the men's points race while Epes Harris captured a national title in the keirin.

As track cycling began at the Olympic Games on Friday, the United States took its first step towards the medal rounds of the men's and women's individual pursuit when both Taylor Phinney and Sarah Hammer advanced to the first round from their respective qualifying heats. Phinney qualified seventh and Hammer fifth. Next they'll need to win their ensuing first round head-to-head matchups in order to advance to the medal rounds. Also on Friday, the team sprint trio of Michael Blatchford, Adam Duvendeck and Giddeon Massie rode to an eighth-place finish.

As the world's best track cyclists take to the Laoshan Velodrome in Beijing this week, the next generation of American track cyclists will converge in Southern California for the 2008 USA Cycling Junior Track National Championships. The event, which begins on Thursday and runs through Sunday, will see approximately 130 young riders vie for seventeen national titles at the ADT Event Center Velodrome in Carson.
